Capital can be defined as currency, which in turn is a means of representing the worth of an individual’s material property to be used for trading. The major defining feature of capitalism is certainly its use of capital. A capitalist economy is often considered to involve the rights of people and groups of people who act as legal persons or corporations in the trading of capital goods, land, labor and money (Harvey, 1990: 20). In a capitalist economy, the determination of investments, income, production, pricing and distribution of goods and services is done through the action of a free market. Capitalism can be defined as a system of economy in which the means of production are owned by private individuals and organizations, whose main goal is to make profits.
